Children with Special Needs

Alpine Training Services offers a wide range of adventure style "adaptive programs" for children and adults with disabilities. All of our programs are "challenge by choice". We encourage all kids to join us for a day's adventure even if they cannot directly participate in the event. Just being out and watching creates an amazing effect.

Stillwater Kayaking Day

Each child will be paired up with a facilitator in a double seat kayak properly outfitted with their life vest and paddle. The kids are encouraged to participate in paddling the boat throughout the still waters of the "back bay" bird estuary.

Program Highlights

- Skill development in safe maneuvering of a kayak

- Skill development in teamwork

- Basic knowledge and use of gear used while kayaking

Rock Climbing / Zip-Lining Day

We will harness, helmet & rope the kids up for this fun interactive rock climbing and zip lining day. We offer a 1 to 1 (1 climber to 1 instructor belayer) ratio that works.

Program Highlights

- Challenge yourself as you learn to climb a rock face using safety gear: ropes, harnesses, helmets and team work.

- Discover your inner strength as you zip-line between two rock formations across a valley.

- Trust your new skills under professional supervision as you rappel down a rock face

Night Hikes Program

Night Hikes - Enjoy local trails using our night time senses. Enjoy twilight as the birds come home to rest, the smell of sage is in the air and the stars cast their shimmer.

Program Highlights

- animals and their adaptations

- constellations

- night vision

- sense of smell, touch and hearing

- fables and legends…story telling

We are very experienced in the design and facilitation of adaptive adventure programming. We understand the meaning of personal physical limitation. We also understand the value of an experience that gently challenges an individual or a group to do something new. Tying these two ideas together successfully can only be achieved by capitalizing on two key concepts, "Safety" & "Challenge by Choice"

Adaptive programming means just that. We adapt our program's to "fit" the individual and the group's ability.

If your group is unable to join for an outdoor
adventure, we can bring many of our programs to you "in house":

Portable obstacle course

Yoga / Muscle Training

Creative Design

We have worked extensively with Ability First, a Los Angeles based organization that provides programs and services to children and adults with disabilities.

Please contact us if you would like more information about any of our programs.
