What's the minium age for a Team member?
The minimum age for a Team member is 18.

Are there accomodations available?
Currently we do not have accomodations available for staff. However, since we have staff who have lived in Southern California their entire lives, they will work with you to find housing.

Where do the programs run?
The programs run throughout the Western United States in places as diverse as Joshua Tree National Park, Channel Islands National Park, Sequoia National Park, Angeles National Forest, Haleakala National Park, and more...

When does the season begin?
Because ATS is a year round company, we do not have a specific season for programs beyond the busy summer season. Due to this, we hire year-round and train year round. The summer season typically begins in May and goes until the end of August.

What's the pay like?
The pay ranges anywhere from $60-$140 a day depending on program and personal experience. For more compensation and benefit details, please visit here.

How do I get the wilderness first aid certification?
ATS offers WFA courses year round and as a staff, you can receive the training at a reduced rate. Please visit our Professional Rescue Course page for further information and dates here.

If I don't know how to canyoneer, can I still apply?
Absolutely! As long as you love working with people, we can teach you the skillsets. Expect a longer training process when you begin, but don't count yourself out!

Who can I contact for more specific questions?
For further employment questions, send an email to info@alpinets.com. Thanks!

What does it take to be an Instructor for Alpine Training Services?

Our trip leaders are not guides - they are instructors. An instructor working for Alpine Training Services has undergone dozens of hours of extensive “in house” training, regardless of prior experience. This training program is designed for the applicants to prove their skillsets over time and to build a relationship of trust and care between all the members of the ATS Team. We require all our guides to have a wilderness medical certification. Once successfully through this phase of training, our instructors are employed as “assistant facilitators” to our discipline specialists.  Evaluations are held after each outing through a series of critical debriefings of the trip where we explore all possible areas to improve on. After a considerable amount of time in this role, an ATS assistant instructor is then empowered to begin instructing basic technical courses under the watchful eye of an ATS Lead Instructor.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO SHARING AN ADVENTURE WITH YOU!
