Texas Safari MultiSport

You don't have to travel to Africa for a safari photo shoot anymore. Our private reserve ranch in Western Texas transports us to the savannah mixing adventure with animal species from across the ocean. A week of incredible food, rock climbing, kayaking, and rappelling awaits at this amazing location. You'll swim through natural springs, visit beautiful canyons and caves and climb virgin limestone towers.

Day 1:
This is a travel day. As participants arrive to the ranch, we'll give you an orientation of the ranch to make your week of adventure as inviting and relaxing as possible. You can go swimming in the pool, feed the buffalo, or just play some volleyball. We'll take an evening drive out to a bluff to watch the sunset over Lake Amistad. Dinner at the main ranch house.

Day 2:
After a relaxing nights sleep at the main lodge, we'll pack our gear for a full day of climbing. We have over one hundred virgin routes to choose from and we'll bounce around to several locations throughout the day. As we drive out onto the ranch, bring your cameras as we'll be likely to see one of over thirty species that call the reserve home. After a full day of climbing, it's back to the main lodge for a huge dinner.

Day 3:
Today will be spent rappelling local cliffs in search of ancient native american petroglyphs. This limestone caves are beautiful and provide a shaded outpost for animal watching. After a lunch in the outback, we'll head to our private local spring for some swimming and cliff-jumping before heading back to the main lodge.

Day 4:
A full breakfast will prepare us for kayaking on Lake Amistad. This "peace" lake miles away serves as a boundary between Mexico and the United States. Depending on the participants interest, we may even get in some fishing.

Day 5:
We'll take a little more time to pack this morning as we'll be spending the night out on the reserve. We'll head out for another full day of climbing at a different location. That evening, we'll prepare a fire ring and listen to native american songs as we watch the stars come out overhead. During the night, you'll occasionally hear animals pass around our camp.

Day 6:
For our last full day on the ranch, we'll explore a few more amazing locations - caves, towers, and maybe even another dip in the spring. As we head back to the lodge for our final night (and showers!), we'll take time to find some of the more elusive species.

Day 7:
This is a travel day. A final morning breakfast to say goodbye to our new friends. After which, participants will pack up and travel to the airport in time to catch flights home. A week of unforgettable memories.

Professional instruction; all technical gear, all accommodations, all meals, all transportation on the reserve, photo CD.

Not Included:
Transportation from your hometown to the group meeting point; lodging before or after the trip, insurance of any kind; gratuities and items of a personal nature.

Transfers:
If you require a transfer from the airport, just let us know and we'll arrange transportation for a small surcharge (typically $100).

Qualifications:
Participants must be prepared to hike 1-2 miles over uneven terrain while wearing a backpack. Participants should be comfortable with heights and capable of swimming.

Weather:
Temperatures can range from 50 - 90° F during the day to 40 - 60° F at night depending on time of year. Upon registration, a seasonal specific gear recommendation list will be sent electronically. Course participants should arrive prepared for all possibilities by following the gear recommendations. A detailed to-bring list will be emailed upon registration.
