Alpine Training Services is pleased to offer Wilderness First Aid Certification courses through the Wilderness Medicine Institute.

If you plan to spend time in the backcountry you need to be prepared. Fast paced and hands-on, this two day course covers a wide range of wilderness medicine topics for people who travel and work in the outdoors.

This course is pre-approved by the American Camping Association, the United States Forest Service, and other governmental agencies. It may also be used for wilderness medicine recertification by those with previous training.

This course may be used to recertify current Wilderness First Responder and Wilderness EMT (wilderness portion only) certifications. Upon successful course completion you will earn a WMI of NOLS WFR or WEMT certification. You must possess a current WFR or WEMT certification from WMI, SOLO, OPEPA or WMA to recertify through this course

Day One

Initial Assessment
Focused History and Patient Exam
Documentation

Spinal Cord Injury Management .5 hr.

Lunch 1 hr.

Spinal Cord Injury Management 1 hr.
Head Injuries .5 hr.
Shock and Bleeding .75 hr.
Break .25 hr.
Wilderness Wound Management 1.5 hr.

Day Two
Athletic Injuries 1 hr.
Fractures 1 hr.
Traction Splinting .75 hr.
Dislocations .5 hr.
Break .25 hr
Heat Injuries .5 hr.

Cold Injuries 1.25 hrs.
Lightning .25 hr.
